Gina and Holly are developing well and Holly's skin is healing except a few scabby parts which I have to take care of. I’m trying to prevent all playful scuffle between Ronnie, Babe and Gina but it is not always possible. When the dogs are chasing each other, I always get scared that Ronnie’s leg suffers even more damage.
With the New Year I start to itemize all my expenses for dog food, medical treatments and the donations I receive.
On Sunday I plan to visit Derek Doyle's Animal Shelter on Mabprachen Lake along with Tony and Richy. Richy is a member of a motorcycle club that recently organized an event that raised 200,000 Baht for Derek's shelter.
I have been with Tony and Richie to Derek’s shelter at Lake Mabprachan. Derek although over 80 years old is very alert and funny. He is sheltering more than 70 dogs and is helped in his daily tasks mainly by his Thai wife. He invites us also to visit his second shelter in Thamai at Chantaburi province. I have been back to the vet with Ronnie, she put a new cast on his leg.
I finally manage to place donation box in Jörg’s store. I put 800 Baht into it to encourage people to donate. Pat spontaneously donates 100 Baht.
Out of all the cats only Paco and Lucy are left. I haven’t seen Lady for a long time and it seems that Pico has died. However, Meow showed up. His left eye, which was infected at his previous appearance, seems to be fine now. But I cannot tell for sure since he did not come down to me, just sitting on the roof of a shed looking at me. As some local residents don’t like seeing me feeding the cats food bowls are frequently gone. I’m now feeding the cats inside the shed and put then the bowls on its roof.
Holly has obviously an upset stomach and is sitting quietly in a corner of the house. I leave her alone. She doesn’t eat well but that's probably the right thing for her to do. Tony handed me 2.710 Baht out of his donation box.
Ronnie’s leg was X-rayed and the vet says that the cast can now be removed. His leg is rubbed sore at three spots and being cared for. Ronnie is as always very patient and I have now not so much to worry about when he is playing with Babe or Gina. I hope that his leg is strengthening and the joints are getting more flexible. Holly has overcome her stomach problem and is feeding herself on dry food. I have given her also a bone which she fiercely defended against Gina. She seems to be healthy again.
