Activity Report - November 2023
At the beginning of the month, I had to cope with another death. Talo, one of my shelter dogs, passed away in my presence after I brought him to my apartment.
My volunteer, Jutta, moved to a larger house and agreed to take in Mona, Lucy, Tessa, and Kenzo. The dogs have embraced their new environment and are comfortable there.
In the middle of the month, I took in two approximately two-month-old puppies. They were found motherless by Beppe, a friend and fellow rescuer. Beppe couldn't accommodate the puppies, so they were accepted by the household dogs and are thriving.
Paula, one of the beach dogs accessible to me, developed a severe swelling on her right shoulder. I treated her at the shelter and will keep her there. Shortly after taking Paula in, there were cases of distemper among the beach dogs. By the end of the month, five dogs brought to the beach by the boatmen had died. My beach dogs and the dogs at the front hall have shown no signs of illness so far; they are all vaccinated. Paula also exhibited no symptoms of distemper.
At the end of the month, I found Bonnie dead in her kennel. Bonnie had been with me for twelve years, and it appears she passed away of natural causes.
